How many people can stay in a shepherd’s hut?
The bunk huts in The Hamlet sleeps up to four guests, with two comfortable double bunk beds — ideal for couples, families, or small groups.
The fancy huts sleep up to two guests – ideal for couples and wedding guests.
Are the huts dog-friendly?
Yes — selected huts welcome well-behaved dogs for a small additional fee. Please let us know when booking so we can allocate a suitable hut. If booking online, your pup can be added to your booking. Please check beforehand that we accept your dog, there are some banned breeds.
What facilities are included in each hut?
Each hut includes:
- En-suite bathroom with hot power shower
- Central heating and electricity
- Outdoor seating area with picnic bench
- Fire pit for outdoor evenings
- Fluffy towels
- Full bedding
- Tea and coffee making facilities
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4pm, and check-out is by 10am.
Early check-in and late check-out may be available for an additional charge.
Are the huts suitable for year-round stays?
Yes — the shepherd’s huts glamping accommodation are fully insulated and centrally heated, making them warm and cosy in winter, and cool and comfortable in summer.
What food and drink options are available?
The best way to enjoy your stay is to dine out — whether that means outdoors by the fire pit or making the most of the food and drink on offer across the Samlesbury Hall grounds.

Do the huts have private outdoor space?
Each hut in The Hamlet has its own outdoor seating area and fire pit, perfect for relaxing and enjoying evenings outdoors.
What do we need to bring with us?
We recommend bringing a torch and any additional crockery if planning a barbecue.
Linen and towels are provided.
Are the huts suitable for groups?
Yes — with 25 huts on-site, The Hamlet is ideal for group stays, celebrations, and getaways. Multiple huts can be booked together, and exclusive use may be available. Find out more about group glamping stays…
Are the huts accessible?
Most huts are accessed via two steps. We have one hut with ramp access and a wet room. Please select ‘Shepherd Hut with Ramp’ when booking online to reserve this option. Ask us if you would like to view our accessibility document.
What is there to do on-site?
You can enjoy woodland walks, a playground, mini golf, and more within the grounds of Samlesbury Hall. Entry to the Hall is free when open. On Sundays, there are guided tours of the old building.

Is there mobile signal and WiFi at The Hamlet?
Yes, there is free WiFi at The Hamlet.
Additionally, most major networks offer strong 5G coverage across The Hamlet and the surrounding area.
Many guests choose to check in and switch off during their stay, but if you do need to stay connected, mobile signal is generally very strong. You can check coverage for your provider using the postcode PR5 0UP.

Set within the historic grounds of Samlesbury Hall, The Hamlet offers guests the chance to stay somewhere with a real sense of place. Steeped in character and heritage, the Hall adds another layer to the experience — and is well worth exploring during your visit. Free entry is included in your stay.
Samlesbury Hall is usually open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. As opening days and times can sometimes vary, we recommend checking opening times before planning your visit. The Hall is closed on Saturdays when weddings take place, however The Garden Room Eatery will remain open for Hamlet guests.
