Samlesbury Hall is a 700 year old half-timbered medieval stately home dating back to 1325 and is located between Preston and Blackburn in Lancashire.
With seven centuries of history to explore, Samlesbury Hall offers guests of all ages a day to remember. A visit to the historic mansion includes three floors of rooms including the Victorian Kitchen, The Great Hall, The Ghost Room and The Witch’s Garret.
The grounds include a Rosarium and the Fountain Courtyard which are set among lush green lawns, flower beds and ancient trees. For the younger ones there is our Mayflower Playground for active play.
Enjoy a splendid lunch at The Garden Room Eatery, and you can stay overnight in our Shepherd’s Huts, Southworth Spa or luxurious and romantic Gatehouse.
We had brunch in the Cafe first which was outstanding – really good food, coffee, and service, in lovely surroundings. Couldn’t fault it! Then we took a tour of the Hall with Simon the guide who was brilliant – we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of his stories. Parking is free, as is the tour, and they’re grateful for purchases from the shop or Cafe, and/or donations. Loved it! Will go again to experience one of the other tours. Happy to have found this wonderful place.
DAYS & TIMES
The historic house and grounds are open between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays weekly. They are also open on Bank Holiday Mondays (Apart from New Year’s Day and Boxing Day). On occasions these times and days may change due to private functions or weddings taking place at the hall, so please make sure you check our website and social media channels before planning a visit.
The hall and grounds are closed on Saturdays and Mondays, unless there is a special public event taking place – details of which can be found on our What’s On page.
Please note, the Hall and Grounds and Maria’s Tea Room will be closed to the public on the following dates additional to our usual closures:

Samlesbury Hall is cared for by The Samlesbury Hall Trust (no. 526052), which is a registered non-profit making charity. All income from food and drink, the gift shop, weddings, accommodation and events is spent on the hall and grounds which allows us to protect this historic venue for the future.
Admission is by voluntary donation. Because we rely on income from food and drink, we do not allow you to bring in your own – thank you.
